Aerobic

The word aerobic comes from the Greek words aero (air) and bios (life) meaning „living in the presence of oxygen”. Aerobic exercise is a type of exercise during which the body uses a lot of oxygen to produce the energy needed for the exercise as well as the body’s metabolic process. It refers to a form of exercise that makes our body’s use of oxygen more efficient and in turn strengthens our heart and lungs.

Aerobic process

This is what happens during exercise requiring little to moderate physical effort. When doing this type of exercise, you do not huff and puff or get out of breath. When doing aerobic exercise, the body uses a lot of oxygen to produce the energy required for the exercise. The body produces the energy it needs by using oxygen to burn the fats and carbohydrates available to it.

Anaerobic

We talk about anaerobic exercise when the amount of oxygen available to the body is not enough to produce the energy the muscles require. Due to its high intensity, exercise in the anaerobic zone can be performed for only a short time; and it should be followed by a period of rest.

Anaerobic process

This is the process that takes place during intense workout. When we do such exercise we have to concentrate on our breathing, as we often start huffing and puffing and get out of breath. During anaerobic processes the body uses carbohydrates very quickly, and lactic acid is produced. In the absence of oxygen our body can only use carbohydrates to generate energy.

Amino acids

They are organic compounds that make up proteins by joining together. After water they are the second biggest building block of our body. Proteins are chains of 22 different types of amino acids called proteinogenic – meaning protein creating – amino acids. In addition to these there are more than 100 different types of amino acids occurring naturally, which fall into three categories: essential, semi-essential and non-essential. Our body needs all of the above types of amino acids, none is more important than the other. If our body does not get the amount of amino acids it needs – because we follow an unhealthy diet or do not eat enough protein, we are going to experience the following symptoms: tiredness, allergy, premature aging or even digestive disorders.

Antioxidant

Antioxidant is a word of Greek origin meaning „something that inhibits oxidation”. Antioxidants are substances that slow down oxidization and by doing this prevent decay. Our body obtains the antioxidants it needs from food and dietary supplements. There are a lot of antioxidants in vegetables, fruit, herbs as well as most vitamins.

Metabolism

Metabolism is the process through which our body burns uses calories, nutrients. Our body needs energy to keep it working, maintain body temperature, replace dead cells, grow and get rid of harmful substances. Although the amount of energy required varies from person to person, most people burn between 1800 and 2800 calories a day. The rate of metabolism depends on whether our body is in carbohydrate or fat-burning mode.

Carbohydrate burning mode

In this mode our body uses carbohydrates not fat as its primary source of energy, and unused carbohydrates are converted into fat and stored by the body. At this time, we experience low energy levels, we may become tired after eating, but some of us may actually feel they need to eat something more. In this mode our sleeps is not so relaxing, and it is difficult for us to get up.
