Almond

Almond, a plant indigenous in Central and Southwest Asia, was held in high esteem in ancient times, and it was known by almost all ancient civilizations. People are known to have grown almonds as early as 4000 BC, and some handfuls of almonds were even found in the tomb of Tutankhamun, as the ancient Egyptians believed almond could provide the pharaoh with nutrients on his journey to the underworld. Almonds are gluten free, so it can be eaten by people who suffer from coeliac disease. It is rich in unsaturated fatty acids like oleic acid as well as polyunsaturated fatty acids, which lower “bad” cholesterol levels in the body. The monounsaturated fats in almond make you feel satiated, making it an excellent snack when you are on a diet to lose weight.
